If you keep up with weight loss products you've had to notice the barrage of hoodia gordonii diet pills entering the market. There are many effective appetite suppressants but what makes hoodia such a great one is its lack of negitive side effects such as shakes, sweating, and anxiety.
What started it all:
The hoodia diet pill craze all started with Leslie Stahl's report on 60 minutes when she went to South Africa to sample the plant. After sampling she stated she was not hungry for a day and that the thought of food just never crossed her mind. A similar report came from a BBC corespondent who experienced similar results. Another great testimonial came from Oprah Winfrey when she featured the diet pill on her popular daily talk show and her O magazine. This has spawned a large demand for the product which the weight loss supplement industry has been anxious to meet.
Several large drugstore chains have begin carrying hoodia supplements. While they normally carry products from reputable companies, they are still looking to make a buck. I took a saturday afternoon and went so some of these large retail stores (which I won't mention by name) and saw many hoodia diet pills that contain 200-500mg per serving and are mixed with other herbs such as green tea and kola nut. While these supplements may provide a large variety of herbs in their proprietary formula, they contain very little actual hoodia gordonii. Studies have shown that anything less than 2000mg per day will barely produce any effects. To obtain an appetite suppressing effect from hoodia gordonii you must consume a minimum of 2000mg and up to 4000mg. Since hoodia has no known side effects some people have taken up to 5000mg with no ill effects (except weight loss).
Beware of cheap fake hoodia
The weight loss industry has always been ripe for scammers and con artists. There are a few things you should be aware of when buying hoodia:
Don't let a few bad apples ruin the bunch.
- Beware of sites offering hoodia extracts. - Phytopharm Inc has spent millions of dollars trying to extract the P57 molecule from the hoodia plant and has not been able to efficiently extract it. Think about this: If a multi-million dollar corporation with all its resources cannot create an extract, how someone can successfully extract the molecule on their own. Aside from that, Phytopharm owns the patent to P57 and would sue anyone with P57 in their extracts.
- Beware of sites offering extremely low prices - A 1 month supply of hoodia (2,500mg/day=75,000mg/month) should cost no less than $30. The wholesale price per gram of raw hoodia alone would exceed $25. After adding packaging the cost would far exceed this and leave no room for profit. Weight loss supplement companys are looking to turn a profit. If there is no room for profit, there is no reason to sell the product.
- Beware of sites that show import certificates - This may come as a suprise but most import certificates are fake or copies. Also if you look at the papers all the identifying information will be blacked out. Even if all the information was available who's checking to make sure they are putting the hoodia in the pills? I'm not saying all websites that show import certificates are selling fake hoodia, but don't buy just because of an import certificate.
- Money back guarantee = your only guarantee
The only way to make sure you don't get scammed is to try the product yourself and see if it works for you. If a site offers a money back guarantee than you can simply return the product if it does not work. This is an easy way to make sure the product works without risking your hard earned money. Besides if it works you'll save money because you won't eat as much. This easily makes up for the cost of the hoodia pills. It's a win-win situation.
There are many hoodia diet pills which work very well. You just have to find the one which works for you. I tried a few and found the one which works for me. Hoodia Xr (hoodiaxr.com) sells a 1000mg timed release hoodia diet pill which I have been taking for a few months. Its not a miracle pill but it seems to curb my appetite much better than the other hoodia supplements i've tried. Most of the help from hoodia comes at night when I normally pig out on snacks. Hoodia helps me become satisfied after eating much less food than I normally would (which has helped me lose 18lbs thank you very much!).

Top-level comments on this article: (4 total)How do we know, with all the different web sites and scams on the internet about hoodia, that this isn't a scam for HoodiaXR and that it really worked for you???
You must work for a competitor of the hoodia xr company. I have been on it for almost a year now and have lost a total of 48lbs. It works for me.
I recently purchased Hoodia XR 1000MG and I have lost 9lbs (6 days) without exercise or changing my eating habits. Basically, I still eat the foods I love, but Hoodia curves my appetite so I dont overeat. I'm so excited about it. I actually take 4 pills per day instead of 3 pills per day. Food is my sin so I'm trying to get discipline.
hmmm, interesting!
